Hi Friends!
Ready to stop Googling ‘cute romantic trip ideas’ and book something unforgettable? Whether you want sun-soaked beaches, charming city streets, or quiet countryside escapes, this post has the must-know tips for your next couple’s getaway and real advice to help you plan the perfect trip that brings you closer. Trust me, it’s easier than you think to find that sweet spot between adventure and romance. Let’s get into it.
First things first—what kind of couple are you when it comes to travel? Are you all about beachy cocktails and sandy kisses? More into chic city strolls and rooftop drinks? Or are you the cozy cabin, flannel-and-fireplace type? Knowing your vacation vibe will help narrow down where to go and how to plan it right. Whatever your preference, remember that different destinations may require different types of planning. For example, if you're heading to a beach destination, don't forget swimsuits. And if you're going for a city break, pack comfortable shoes and a map!
Now, let's talk about accommodations. When it comes to romantic getaways, I'm all about that luxury and romance. I'm talking about king-sized beds, balconies with a view, and hot tubs or private pools. And don't forget to check out the hotel's dining options, too! A candlelit dinner for two is always a good idea.
Next up, activities! I always say that the key to a successful couple's getaway is finding activities that you both enjoy. Maybe you're both adrenaline junkies and want to go skydiving or bungee jumping. Or perhaps you're both into yoga and want to take a class together. Whatever your interests are, plan activities that allow you to spend quality time together and make lasting memories.
Finally, the most important part of any romantic getaway is love! One time, Jon and I spent four days in the mountains and didn’t even check our phones once. It made our relationship feel brand new again. And don't forget to take lots of pictures, you'll want to relive these special moments for years to come!
Why Couples’ Getaways Matter
Life gets busy. Between work, errands, and keeping up with everything (and everyone), it's easy for quality time to fall off the radar. Taking a trip together isn’t just cute, it’s a reset button for your relationship.
Communication is Key: Please take the time to talk about your expectations, wants, and interests for the trip. It's all about finding that perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. And let's be honest, if you're anything like me, you'll want to spend some time soaking up the sun and sipping on fruity cocktails, but remember to make time for those heart-to-heart conversations that keep your relationship strong.
Embrace Spontaneity: While planning is essential, don't be afraid to leave some room for spontaneity. Some of the best memories are made when you least expect them! So, if your partner suggests trying out that new restaurant or going on a sunset hike, don't be afraid to say yes and see where the adventure takes you. Who knows, you might discover your new favorite spot.
Disconnect to Reconnect: The phones can wait. Take this trip as your chance to really unplug and tune into each other. Airplane mode isn’t just for flights, it’s for candlelit dinners, inside jokes, and kisses without distraction. Memories hit different when you’re fully present.
Keep the Romance Alive: Whether it's a candlelit dinner on the beach or a cozy night by the fireplace, don't forget to sprinkle a little romance into your getaway. After all, isn't that what it's all about? Want to blow their mind? Don’t just plan a couple’s massage. Book it and schedule room service after, so y’all don’t have to move. Or surprise them with a sexy little outfit you packed in secret. Romance doesn’t need to be corny, it needs to be intentional. Think: what would make them melt? Now do that. (Plus champagne. Always champagne.)
Now, let's talk about some of the best couples' getaways. If you're looking for a romantic beach vacation, look at the Maldives. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax with your partner, with crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and overwater bungalows. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even go snorkeling or scuba diving to explore the colorful marine life.
If you want something slightly off the beaten path, consider a trip to Bali. Its lush jungles, stunning waterfalls, and ancient temples make it the perfect place to connect with nature and each other. And if you're a foodie, you'll love the delicious Indonesian cuisine.
Last, if you're looking for a trip closer to home, why not try a cozy cabin getaway in the mountains? Snuggle by the fire, go for a romantic hike, and enjoy quality time outdoors. No matter where you go, remember that the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy each other's company.

Practical Tips for Planning Your Getaway
If you're reading this, it's safe to say you're planning a romantic getaway with your significant other. Good for you! There's nothing quite like a couple's escape to recharge your love batteries and create unforgettable memories with your partner. And guess what? I'm here to help make your planning process a breeze!
First things first, let's talk about budget. I know it's not the most glamorous aspect of planning a trip, but trust me, it's essential. Before you start daydreaming about sipping margaritas on a white sandy beach, sit down with your partner and decide on a budget for your trip. This will help you narrow down your options and avoid any financial stress down the line. Plus, having extra cash to splurge on those romantic dinners and couples' massages is always good!
Now that we've got the money talk out of the way, it's time to start researching your dreamy destination. Do you want to bask in the sun on a tropical island, explore quaint European villages, or hike through lush rainforests? The options are endless, so take some time to research different destinations and find the perfect fit for you and your partner. Consider the weather at your chosen time of year, travel restrictions, and local customs to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.
Once you've chosen your destination, it's time to start looking into accommodations. Again, the options are endless, so research and find the perfect place to rest your head at night. And remember to book well in advance to snag the best deals!
Now, onto the fun stuff - activities! Whether you're into adventure sports, cultural experiences, or just lounging on the beach, there's something out there for every couple. Spend time researching different activities in your chosen destination and make a rough itinerary of what you want to do. But, and this is a big deal, remember to stay flexible! Sometimes, the best experiences happen when you least expect them, so leave some room in your schedule for spontaneity.
Speaking of spontaneity, remember to pack smart. Bring all the essentials for your trip, from sunscreen and bug spray to travel adapters and medication. And leave some room in your suitcase for souvenirs! But don't stress too much about packing perfectly. If you forget something, you can pick it up at your destination. And if not, hey, it's an excuse to go shopping!
Last but certainly not least, remember to have fun! This is your time to relax, unwind, and create unforgettable memories with your partner, so make the most of it and enjoy every moment.
Real Stories of Love & Adventure
As someone lucky enough to have been taken on countless couples' getaways by my fiance Jon, I can attest to just how transformative these trips can be. One of our most memorable trips was to Los Angeles, California, where my boyfriend and I spent our days exploring the city!
Our adventure began by heading straight to Venice Beach, where we dipped our toes in the water and watched the skateboarders in the skate park. We took a stroll along the pier and enjoyed the breathtaking ocean views. We were about to leave when we stumbled upon this quirky restaurant that served the best truffle fries and margaritas. As we sat outside, we connected with a group of street musicians who created an unforgettable vibe. The old guy singing and playing guitar reminded me so much of my late dad, making the moment even more special.
As we explored, I saw a Del Taco and had to recreate the famous vine I had seen online. But my impression of "Come to Del Taco...we got..FREE SHAVA CADOO" did not come out right, much to my boyfriend's amusement. We laughed so hard, and I still cringe whenever I think about that moment. We also went to the mall and got Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory…four years before I discovered my nickel allergy LOL—meaning I try (and often fail) to avoid chocolate most of the time now :( But we also hit a Yogurtland, which was an absolute delight!
We went to the petting zoo at a park in Whittier, where my boyfriend Jon grew up. I loved seeing all the animals, especially the goats. Then Jon took me to take pictures outside of the building they used for outside shots in New Girl, my favorite TV show! We had so much fun exploring LA by seeing the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Park, and the Chinese Theatre. We even found the spot where they filmed countless movies, like the race scene in Grease. It was so surreal to be in the same place where so many iconic movies were made.
Each trip we’ve taken has brought us closer together and created memories we'll cherish forever. And let's not forget the countless laughs, inside jokes, and stolen kisses along the way! These getaways have taught me that it's the little things that truly matter and that life is too short not to enjoy every moment with the people you love. The memories we make will last a lifetime, and I'm grateful for every moment I spend with Jon.
